The fifth dimension room is what made this attraction. It's so true! Thanks for stopping by - I loved reading your description of the experience! I keep going back and forth on which one I personally like better, and I think it's the Florida tower right now. The California tower just feels so short by comparison! It's like you just go in and out as fast as you can. The California tower seems built for quick thrills, but the Florida tower is a master of suspense. (And I LOVE suspense. :) )

In reply to Romain.

It’s so true! It adds so much to the overall experience it's not even funny. When I first rode it I had no idea the lift would be moving forward, because Disney did a great job at hiding it. You look at the tower from outside and you automatically assume you go up on a single lift then go down the same, because common lifts are usually designed this way. 5th dimension scene is the part that trully immerses you into believing you're leaving the Hotel, entering another dimension, leaving all behind, and in front of you, it's the unknown, and to top it off, if you (probably) assumed it was only one lift you would be riding, you can't understand how is it possible the lift is moving horizontally. Add to all of this a scenery full of gorgeous and well put effects, then suddenly pitch black, an impression of tilting towards the window and finally the so antecipated drop, and it's not even a competition. Disney built the original tower aiming for a superb attraction, not quality/cost fractions, and it shows.

5th dimension scene, that’s all that’s needed for the Hollywood Studios to win hands down. Your analysis is comprehensive and fair-minded, without any of the petty FL vs. CA (and vice versa) snubbing that often mars such discussions. The only detail I would have added to your review is the audio quality. Both in the library and on the elevator, I think the audio volume and effects (including "Serling's" narration) are much better in DCA. Otherwise, I agree with your main points and the conclusion that the DHS Tower has a slight edge overall, if for no other reason than being the original. I'm glad Disney didn't attempt a total replication in Anaheim, regardless of the reasons behind that decision. We're fortunate to have two markedly different versions of the same great experience located within a five-hour flight of each other.

Superb comparison of the two Towers.
